My 02 Ford Escort ZX2 my control panel lights don't come on. My tail lights are out. Fuse has been changed.?
There is a reason the fuse has blown twice and that would be.........................there is a short in the system somewhere. As answer #1 said replace the headlight switch yeah there could be a short in that causing your problem and I would have one on hand but I doubt that you do and you wouldn't want to spend money for a new one if that isn't the problem. So check for a bare wire for taillights and dash lights first. If you don't find a bare wire then remove the switch and test it for continuity you will know if that is the problem before spending $ for a new one.

Replace your headlight switch.
go to your local junkyard for the headlight switch, I recently went to mine, found a dozen zx2's there, ripe for the picken. But there is a short somewhere, thats the fun part. Does it immediatly pop when you turn on the lights? then it would be your headlight switch. OR possibly your dimmer switch bad?
